Thursday 19th November: Crumpsall Folk Club feat. Johnny Campbell
Tradfolk called him "a modern-day Billy Bragg" - Sheffield-based Johnny Campbell sings the songs and stories of the North alongside his own originals about land, work and the right to roam. He played a fondly-remembered set at the club back in 2024, and returns on Thursday 19th on the Crumpsall date of his European tour.

His 2024 album "True North", recorded on the highest summit of each Northern county, was picked by Richard Thompson in MOJO as one of the top five folk albums of 2024. In 2025 he walked all 268 miles of the Pennine Way with a guitar on his back, playing 17 shows in 19 days. He's been touring flat out since. Crumpsall falls midway through a run that has already taken him across England, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Norway, with Germany and the Netherlands still to come.

Johnny's first studio album as a solo artist, "As The Bracken Dance", with ten songs about enclosure and connection, from the poet John Clare's day to our own, has just been successfully crowdfunded and so we look forward to hearing some new tracks from that.
We will have floor spots from 7.45 before the main act, so get down early if you want to play.
NOTE: We will be more punctual and finish earlier than usual, as Johnny needs to catch a late train home - floor spots may be limited to one track each depending on numbers.
As always, we'll have a half time raffle.
